Xu Bing / Solid Sound T-shirt Shawl
This fringed shawl was hand-stitched out of t-shirts from MASS MoCA's 2013 Solid Sound Festival. The shirts featured characters invented by contemporary artist Xu Bing, who had a monumental exhibition in MASS MoCA's Building 5 at that time. Xu Bing's characters are meant to look like Chinese at a glance, but when observed more closely English letters can be distinguished. These shirts all say "Solid Sound, Two Thousand and Thirteen".
Warm yet soft and light, this shawl is completely one of a kind. Handmade in North Adams, Massachusetts by Phyllis Criddle.
